  • How will my child settle into the nursery?
Parents and staff will agree the best way to introduce the child to nursery. Parents will be invited into the nursery prior to the child starting and will be offered two free trial sessions. Our team is very flexible and will work around the unique needs of your child. Some children settle relatively quickly and parents can leave after a short time in the nursery but others are more reluctant to part from their parents and need longer. We work alongside all parents in the settling in process. We find that a child who is supported to settle at their own pace quickly adapts to the nursery routine.
  • How do I find out what has happened during the day?
We have an open door policy so parents are invited to ask questions at any time. On collection time, staff will have been briefed about your child so they can share any information with you. The Manager will always offer an appointment to discuss your child’s progress in addition to the planned parent’s evenings. We hope that from your first day in the nursery, you will build up a good rapport with the staff and feel sufficiently comfortable to speak to any member of staff. While the key worker is best placed to give an insight into your child’s progress all staff communicate daily and are very aware of how all the children are generally progressing.
  • What do you expect of me while my child attends nursery?
To make sure we have all the relevant details about you and your child and that you tell us as soon as there are any changes. To make sure that your child is brought and collected from nursery regularly and on time. To not send your child to nursery when they are ill and inform staff of this as soon as possible. To work together with us as part of a team to ensure the positive development of your child.
  • How much notice do I need to give when leaving nursery?
It is important to give as much notice as possible so that we can prepare your child for their move and complete their learning journey book so it is ready to take with you on your child’s last day. We require at least one months written notice to terminate your child’s place here at Lingfield Nursery School.
  • What happens if I am running late?
If you are running late we ask you to let us know as soon as possible. If you know you are going to be late then you can pre-book your child onto the late session until 6:30pm. If you do not inform us in plenty of time and you are late you will be charged a late fee.
