Parents Update May 2017

Staff Changes
We are delighted to announce that Miss Toni is expecting a baby in October. Toni will be going on maternity leave at the end of September. Miss Rachel and Miss Stacey will continue to run the nursery in Toni’s absence.
Miss Jo has joined us as a member of Bank Staff and will be working alongside the team in all rooms.

School Leavers/Leaving notice
We would like to remind you that there is a months notice to terminate your child’s place at the nursery. This needs to be in writing, please either send us a letter or drop us an email. If you know and can give more than a months notice this is very helpful as it frees up our waiting list. Deposits are returned via BACS after the fobs have been returned.

Kingfishers Leavers Party
We will be holding a school leavers party for the children leaving to go to school on the 11th July. It will be sad to see the children leave however we wish them all the best for the future in their new school. Kingfishers are also having a Graduation for the children that are leaving to go to school. This is being held on Thursday 27th July at 5pm, if you haven’t already done so please let the team or the office know if you will/will not be attending.

Open day/Ideas
Our annual open day/family fun day will be held on the 8th July from 2-4pm. We have lots of stalls including face painting, bouncy castle and many more. It would be lovely to see you and your family and friends. If you have attended any fetes and have seen any stalls that you may like to see here at Lingfield Nursery School please feel free to pass these ideas through to the office.
We are looking for donations for our raffle and tombola. Everything is gratefully received, this could be bottles of wine, tins, children’s toys or unwanted gifts. If you or you know anyone that would like to donate to our raffle these will also be gratefully received, this could be vouchers or free entry passes. If so please pop them into the office or there is a box in the entrance to the nursery that you could pop them into.

Raffle Tickets
We will be holding a raffle at our open day/family fun day. If you would like to purchase any tickets these will be on sale in ALL the rooms from this week. They are £1 per ticket. A list of prizes are at the bottom of this email!

Sainsbury’s Vouchers
We are collecting the Active Kids vouchers from Sainsbury’s, these will help us to get new equipment for the children. There is a collection box for the vouchers in the foyer if you do have vouchers to bring in. Thank you for all the parents who have donated so far . We will be totalling them up mid July so if we could ask for them to be in by then we would be grateful.

Bouncy Castle
We have two bouncy castles available to hire. The cost is £40 for the small and £60 for the large for a whole weekend (Friday afternoon to Monday morning.) We also require a £50 holding deposit to ensure the bouncy castle is returned in the same condition it was hired, and terms and conditions are met.We have two bouncy castles available to hire. Eggs
Eggs are for sale in the office 6 Eggs for £1. Subject to availability as we now only have three chickens. This is due to old age as they were rescue battery chickens. We are looking into getting some more chickens.

Food from Home
Please can we ask parents not to bring in food. We have had a few cases where children are coming into nursery holding food, also where children are popping back to their bags for a quick snack! We do have many children with allergies, some very severe and we would like to be reassured the children can only access food we have provided in a controlled environment.

Speed Limit
Please can we remind parents to drive slowly on the driveway and observe that we have a 10mph speed limit down the driveway and into the car park. We have many parents dropping and collecting throughout the day and staff crossing across the car parks. We would like to ensure the safety of all children, parents and staff. We also have two car parks if you need to use the staff car park as an overflow. Please can we also ensure that you are vigilant when leaving your parking space as there are parents and children walking to their cars and we want to maintain their safety. If you have Family Members, Friends, Nannies or Childminders collecting on your behalf please can you inform/remind them of our speed limits.

Sun Hats and Sun cream
Please can we ask all parents to bring in a NAMED sun hat for their child and sun cream if you would prefer them to have an alternative to the Boots Soltan factor 50 that we provide. We do have a few spare sun hats if you forget for a day but we cannot guarantee it is one that fits your child’s head well or enough to go around if more than a few children forget on one day.

Spare Clothes
Please can we ask that you bring in spare clothes for your child/ren as we have limited spares available. Please can we also ask that if your child is sent home in our spare clothes that you return them to us please.

Rag Bag
We are still collecting all textiles (clothes, shoes, hand bags and belts) for our rag bag scheme, if you have any of these please bring them to the office. Also if you have any children’s trousers, pants, socks, gloves or winter hats which you don’t want we would be grateful of the donation for our spare clothes.

Parents Update April 2017

School Leavers/Leaving notice
As you have all been informed of your child’s school we would like to remind you that there is a months notice to terminate your child’s place at the nursery. This needs to be in writing, please either send us a letter or drop us an email. If you know and can give more than a months notice this is very helpful as it frees up our waiting list. Deposits are returned via BACS after the fobs have been returned. There is a form up in the pre-school room that enables you to write down the school your child will be attending. Parents have found this useful in the past as they are able to see which of their friend will be attending the same school as their child. Miss Lucy will also use this information to contact the schools to gain information about the routines and take pictures to aid the transition and making it as smooth as possible for the children.
Some parents have mentioned that it would be useful if other parents are happy to share their mobile numbers to keep in contact. Due to data protection we are unable to give these out however if you would like to share this please feel free to write it down next to your child’s name on the school leavers form in the Kingfishers room. Parents can then copy these down if they wish to keep in contact with children who may attend a different school to theirs or to share information regarding the school if they are attending the same school.

Captain Cutlass
The children had a fantastic morning with captain cutlass.
We are planning on having an entertainer come into the nursery four times per year to give the children something different and fun to look forward too. Any suggestions for our next event will be gratefully received; this could be someone you have seen at a friend’s party or a friend that you may know who holds children’s parties.

Bethany has decided not to leave the nursery and work abroad for the summer; we are delighted to keep her in our team.
Miss Claire has also stepped down as Kingfishers room Manager, Miss Lucy will be taking over in the Kingfishers room from W/C 20th March. We are hoping to promote internally for the Puffins Room Manager position we will keep you informed with this.
Miss Siobhan will also be moving to Kingfishers and Miss Phillipa will be moving to Puffins this swap of rooms will take place on Monday 13th March.
Miss Hayley will be joining our team on Tuesday 21st March working in all three rooms, on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
I understand that staff changes can often be unsettling, we are trying to keep the continuity for the children therefore we are delighted with our re shuffle and change in team.

Nursery Bags
All children are supplied with a drawstring bag when starting the nursery. This is to help us to ensure there is room for all children’s belongings on their pegs. Please can we ask that you use the bag provided instead of bringing in rucksack bags, this will help keep all children’s pegs clear and not intrude onto the child’s pegs next to them. If you need a Lingfield Nursery School bag please email or pop into the office.

Aprils Invoices
The invoices for the children who claim the government funding for 3-5 year olds will be amended at the end of the month.
The funding rate will increase in April however at the moment we do not have the exact confirmation of this. We intend on passing this saving onto our parents. We will be sending out the April invoices on the 20th March as usual however we will send out a revised invoice at the end of month this will have the saving on it. You can either pay the original invoice as usual and the saving will be credited to your account for next month or you can wait for the revised invoice. All fee’s will still be due for payment by the 5th April.

30 Hours Funding
From September 2017 most working parents of 3 and 4 year olds will be eligible for an extra 15 hours (extended) of free childcare a week, term time. Added to their current universal entitlement of 15 hours, this means that their free early education entitlement will increase to a total of 30 hours a week, term time. If you choose the ‘stretched’ funding option the current 11 hours per week that we offer will increase to 22 hours per week.

We intend to offer the extended 15 hours here at Lingfield Nursery School. we have detailed below information about what we currently know, this is still being updated and at the moment we are unable to give you any price lists.

Who is eligible for 30 hours?

In a two parent family, both must work full or part-time and in a one parent family the sole parent must work full or part-time. Each parent must earn, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage and be earning less that £100,000 per year.

How will parents show that they are eligible for 30 hours?

The government is setting up a new process for parents to check their eligibility through an online website. This will give parents an eligibility code which you need to pass on to us to show that they are eligible for the extended 15 hours of childcare. Parents will have do this every three months to show they are still eligible. We will give you a deadline date which we will need the new code by to secure your funding for that period.

What happens to parents who aren't eligible for 30 hours?

All 3 and 4 year olds are still entitled to the current universal 15 hours of free early education a week, term time. This equals 570 hours a year and can also be spread over more than 38 weeks if that option is available.

How will we offer the extra funding?

We intend to offer the funding in the same way that we currently offer the 15 hours.

For the term time only option the 30 hours will be broken down into 10 sessions of three hours. You will then be able to claim one three hour session per half day that your child attends so to claim the maximum of 30 hours a week term time only here your child will need to attend full time.

For the stretched funding the 22 hours will be broken down into sessions of three hours. You are able to claim one three hour sessions per half day that your child attends so to claim the maximum of 22 hours your child will need to attend four days a week. You will be able to claim seven sessions of three hours and one session of 1 hour.

We operate an open door policy at Lingfield Nursery School and welcome all feedback and comments from parents.

Many Thanks
